GETTING TO FIRE IN THE MOUNTAINS

GETTING HERE

Below are tips on how to get to Red Eagle Campground. Please visit our Ride Share Forums on Facebook to coordinate car pooling to save money and help reduce pollution.

FLYING

This is by far the fastest way. There are two primary options: Kalispell and Great Falls.

Kalispell is a slightly shorter drive, taking around an hour and a half from the airport and takes you through the heart of Glacier National Park.  Great Falls is a solid 2-hour drive, but on average about $100 cheaper to fly into.  Along with the additional drive, we know it can be more expensive to fly into more remote airports than other larger airports. In the summer there are frequent direct flights from major cities around the country including: Denver, Salt Lake City, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, Atlanta, and Phoenix. There are rental car companies at Kalispell airport and in the town of Great Falls. We will also offer an airport shuttle to take you to and from both airports. This can be purchased directly on the FITM ticketing page.  We will be sure to notify everyone once airport shuttles are available to reserve.

Fly to Missoula and Drive to Red Eagle:

Missoula is the closest “major” city.  It’s about a 3.5-hour drive to Red Eagle from Missoula.  It’s a beautiful drive that, like Kalispell, takes you through the heart of GNP, so it’s not a bad option especially since flights might be cheaper flying into a slightly bigger airport.

Fly to Bozeman and Drive to Red Eagle:

A great option could be making a fun road trip out of the experience and flying into Bozeman, linking up with friends,  then caravanning up to East Glacier from there. Bozeman’s just big enough where the flights may be more frequent, subsequently providing cheaper options. If this interests you, look into the Bozeman carpool Facebook page and start making plans.

Fly to Calgary and Drive to Red Eagle:

Calgary is a big city and is less than a 4-hour drive to Red Eagle Campground. For all you Canadians joining us, this could be a no brainer.  Driving south along the Canadian Rockies is an incredible drive, so with Calgary Airport having a number of convenient car rental options at the airport, flying into here makes this option a solid one if you’re open to a little road trip. Should save you some money in the process. Worth experimenting with.

TRAIN

This has the potential to be the most uniquely American West, and certainly the most fun, of the available options. There is an Amtrak station in the town of East Glacier not more than a 10-minute drive to Red Eagle and we’ll be running shuttles to and from the station. Direct trains run from Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis or Chicago.
